I am unsure of what type of bird this is .... maybe a type of flycatcher. Seen near a wetlands area and pond. This was taken in the spring, as you can tell from the blossoms on the tree. I am not sure what type of tree that is either.
Hi Kerri New one on me this, I google and followed it up to find its sound. http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/audio/Least_Flycatcher.html
We get a a Spotted and a Pied FlyCatcher over in the Uk.. I see the Pied one now and then.. http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/s/spottedflycatcher/index.asp
Always nice to see a new bird whilst out. Thanks for putting my bird on your Art Blog
Hi Kerri, This is wonderful and I have so enjoyed the rest of your blog.Your photography is suberb! I will be visiting again. Isn't Tom a sweetie! I see you're in Blacksburg - beautiful place. My son graduated from Tech!
That's a very pretty picture of yellow! I have seen a Great Crested Flycatcher before. It could be a Least Flycatchter but it looks more like a molted Eastern Phoebe to me with the dark brown head, white chest and yellow belly. They have a loud song. But I'm no expert, that's for sure!
Hi Kerri, this is a great post as usual. I like how you were able to capture the bird in the yellow bush. I haven't a clue what that bird is so if its a flycatcher so be it...LOL
Awesome,,, I saw a different bird the other day and I really need to get my book out to see what it was I saw... But then Spring is here and I am Under whelmed... gads I love to play in the dirt tee hee
I am almost certain that the shrub the bird is sitting in is "spicebush". We have a lot of it here and this is the time of year that it blooms. I photographed some yesterday, but was not happy with what I got.
