I love that Butterfly and the Daisy. We don't have many butterflies yet, but when the Milkweed and my Cone flowers bloom I'm sure there will be plenty. I think my Bluebirds already fledged. I don't see the parents around any more.
No perfect match in my Audubon book, but I'm gonna guess the butterfly is some sort of crescent spot. As for the bluebird - great shot! I'd love to get one up close and personal like that...but ours stay at a distance flying from fence to pole and back again. We see them, but through our binoculars.
Well I think you scored 2 for 2 this time. These are terrific shots and the composition of the butterfly/moth on the flower is perfect. Amazing nature photos.
I just found your blog tonight and was poking around. I think you have a Northern Metalmark, (Calephelis borealis). Not that I'm an expert, I just got a new copy of Kaufman's Butterflies of North America. This query was a good oportunity to give it a test flight.
I don't know what kind of butterfly it is but it sure is pretty. I see what you mean about the yellow looking like the sun. It is beautiful!!!

What a perfect shot of the butterfly on the daisy! I can see the sun shining through, like you say :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my! Those are spectacualr! Have a great 4th.
ReplyDeleteVery nice bluebird! Happy Thursday to you too!
ReplyDeleteThat bird shot is absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThose two photos are gorgeous, indeed. Both shots captured right on time, especially the second one with the bluebird. It really is so cute.
ReplyDeleteYou always manage the perfect shots in flawless lighting. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCan't identify the butterfly (although I knew it was sitting on a daisy). Great shot of the bluebird bringing take-out for the family.
ReplyDeleteKerri, those are both beautiful captures. When I have more time, I'll get my new book out and try to ID that butterfly.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many that even with the book it is hard to make a positive ID.
The yellow does look like the sun - what a great effect! I love your butterfly shots!
ReplyDelete\what a great capture of that bluebird.
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful captures! Can't help with ID so will call it Kerri's Lucky Catch. Ü

ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. Not sure about the butterfly/moth.
ReplyDeleteI would say it is a beautiful butterfly. It is big covering the center of the flower. Love it. And the bird, great shot.
ReplyDeleteKerri - two absolutely gorgeous images! I liked your comparison of the daisy to the sun - cool.
ReplyDeleteHave I told you, you have TALENT!
Have a wonderful holiday weekend!
breathtaking shots both. fantastic colors
ReplyDeleteI think it might be a moth...they tend to open flat when they land on a flower...I could be completely wrong though!
ReplyDeleteEither way it's a very well done photo.
Oh beautiful,I can't help you with a name, we don't have those. Very nice shot.
ReplyDeleteWow, both are really great shots. I love the color of the bird there.
