CHOO CHOO

Sounds through the air
bring comfort
heart vibrations
~ Quite the departure from pics I normally post :)
I like trains. I grew up in an area of trains...not within "seeing"
distance...but within hearing distance.
The train whistle and the chug going down the tracks
was ALWAYS a comforting sound.
I still LOVE to hear it!

  9. Oh, the Norfolk Southern. One of our favorite RR's. We have a favorite place in Gallitzin, Pa not far from Altoona, Pa where there is a B&B right beside the NS tracks. You can watch trains 24/7 if you want to( and if have enough money ). Have you checked out Gary's blog-"Steam Across the Trestle"? http://steamacrossthetrestle.blogspot.com/ It's all about trains. We're loyal train fans. Love your picture.

  10. This is a terrific photo. It's nostalgia of the highest order. What a great pic! It will go over with lots of people. Trains are winners every time.

(My dad's first job was as a RR machinist back during steam engine days. He got laid off during the depression and always yearned to return to railroading. Had many RR friends over the years.)

  12. I just love train photos. I read somewhere that train buffs call this engine a "catfish" because of the white marks that resemble whiskers. The grandkids overheard me telling my husband that so now every time they see one they holler "there's a catfish"!
Thanks for mentioning the B&W blog!

  14. That train emerging from behind the trees is perfect in black and white! I clicked on link of the barn and enjoyed seeing the elongated side of it parallel to the mountains in the background --a perfect shot!
