Abbott Lake at Peaks of Otter

One Sunday, Hubby and I visited another spot on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The Peaks of Otter. This is take from Abbott Lake looking toward
Sharp Top Mountain - elevation 3862 ft.
For more info on Peaks of Otter:

There is a one mile hiking trail around the Lake.

A view from the hiking trail.

At the end of the trail, a wonderful bench to
sit on and take in all of the beauty.

"Slow down and enjoy life. It's not only the scenery you miss by
going to fast - you also miss the sense of where
you are going and why.

  9. When I was a child we lived in Roanoke and I remember driving up the Blue Ridge Parkway to Mabry Mill and seeing the dogwood on the hills in the spring and the explosion of reds, oranges and yellows in fall. We were at Peaks of Otter just a few years ago but didn't get to this particular lake. Lovely scenery.

  16. Very calm and serene environment, great for hiking. And the beautiful name Sharp Top Mountain, reminds me of another perfectly cone shaped mountain. Great photos.

  17. What a magical spot, it would be ideal for recovering heart patients to walk around. Lovely scenery, a nice even place to walk and recover. Wish I were near enough to take advantage of it.

  21. what a beautiful place. And a good walkway to take you around the lake. Is that peake for real? or is it manmade?
