Sunday

The Christmas Lady

The cardinals always come around during the Christmas Holidays!
This little lady was perched on a tree outside my window one Christmas Day.
(I shot this thru the window glass)

Thursday

Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone has a FABULOUS Holiday!
Stay warm and safe...and cherish your friends and family!

Wednesday

Christmas Bells

I HEARD the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

And thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along
The unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

Till ringing, singing on its way,
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime,
A chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

Then from each black, accursed mouth
The cannon thundered in the South,
And with the sound
The carols drowned
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

It was as if an earthquake rent
The hearth-stones of a continent,
And made forlorn
The households born
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

And in despair I bowed my head;
"There is no peace on earth," I said;
"For hate is strong,
And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The Wrong shall fail,
The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men."

~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Sunday

Snowy Days

In December 2009 we had quite the snow storm
The snow started on a Friday around 1:30pm  and finished up early Saturday.
We got over 13 inches - which is a lot for our area.

When I awoke on that Saturday morning - the Bird Feeder Wreath  was full of snow.
I shook the snow off and added some more bird treats.
This White breasted nuthatch was happy I did!

Tuesday

'Tis the Season

...to be Jolly!

This cardinal is available as a notecard, a postcard and a coaster.

Sunday

I've Got the Blues...

....But that's not a bad thing. In fact I have a LOT of Blues -
Blue Jays that is! They are abundant in my area.
And the ones here do NOT fight with the other birds...I'm told they do that in some areas.
When I shot this -
there were at least 6 of them hanging out together.
I guess it helped that I put some
peanuts out for them to snack on.

Friday

Blind Ambition

I made a HUGE discovery back in 2009
I bought a one person chair blind - similar to ones that hunters use.
It is possibly the best $50 I ever spent!
It is PERFECT for "up close" shots of the birds AND
keeps me covered in rainy or snowy weather.

Rainy Day Bird and a Gray Bow

  Cold and Rainy.
This Mourning Dove is all puffed up trying to keep warm.

This time - a gray "bow" for my wreath.
Sprinkle the seeds and the birds love to come and dig them out.

Great gifts for the Nature Lover :)

Ruby Tuesday - Two Kinds of Red

These little Red Squirrels have made a home in our backyard.
They put on quite the show for me...leaping from tree to tree.
For the squirrel lover: Here, Here, Here & Here

And a bit brighter red! This cardinal was decorating the wreath
like a big Red bow :)
