  2. Great hawk! I've noticed a few around here, but they are so very Ratty looking. So dirty and scraggly and ruffled. They fit into the environment perfectly!

  4. Great picture! I love getting pictures of hawks. They are plentiful here in Upstate NY. Interesting -- my niece is a graduate of Radford U.

  7. Oh and what a beauty it is. We have a few hawks scouting my back yard on occasion. It makes for quiet bird feeders this winter.

  9. That is a gorgeous photo, especially for a first time attempt.

I'm calling that a Cooper's Hawk, which you tend to see zipping through wooded areas near backyard bird feeders this time of year. They like to munch on songbirds.

Beautiful, athletic, acrobatic birds. Thank you for the photo.

  16. The darker coloration threw me off, but like jatkin, I'll go with Cooper's due to the tail. Wonderful shot Kerri!
