Little pieces of my life and my photos.
I'm not sure on the ID, but what a beautiful photo Kerri!I tried to get a flight shot of a Dragonfly once. It was like threading a needle with a garden hose. Good luck!
Should have a nice day for it...me? I'll be mowing the yard and such. :-)
Hi Kerri, sorry I'm no use re ID, but I want to admire your shot of this butterfly, whatever it is. The "lace" detail on its wings is so beautiful.Have a lovely Saturday, hope you get the day you want. It's lovley and sunny here, so far!
WOW ! What a beauty - I never seen such one !
Wonderful photo - and the match I find in Kaufman's guide is a female Black Swallowtail - I think you have it :)dan
A beautiful macro shot, good luck in cathing the dragon. I don't know the plant's ID.
My butterfly field guide agrees - spicebush swallowtail. Gorgeous creature. Good luck on your dragonfly hunt!
You just nailed this shot! Great minds think alike. I went out hunting dragons last weekend and got a Eastern Tiger Swallowtail.
I wish I were better at butterflies. This one is so lovely. Good luck with the dragonflies!
Can't wait to see your dragon! But if it is elusive today, another butterfly or another bird will be fine too! Happy hunting.
Beautiful Swallowtail Kerri! Happy Saturday!
I think this is a Pipevine Swallowtail http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/images?l=1350
Good luck Kerri! you can do catch that dragon!
Good luck dragonhunting.
It's a beauty by any name Kerri... I had some luck with a Dragonfly last year.... I watched where they were flying.... cut a suitable twig and stuck it in the ground near by its flight path... I sat as still as could be and waited... It was not to long a wait as one landed long enough for me to get a few shots off.Happy Dragon Hunting Kerri.
Not sure on the butterfly but I am hoping for you that you get the elusive dragonfly. They truly are difficult!Do you use your zoom?
Did you see Steve's in-flight dragonfly shot? Dang he's good.Gorgeous photo Kerri! No matter what you come up with, it's always beautiful. I hope it's not as windy there as it is here. Definitely not a good day for Dragonfly hunting in NH.
I cannot help with the ID,but I do know that this is a gorgeous picture.I hope you find the Dragon. Blessings,Ruth
Nice one Kerri...goog luck with hunting the 'Dragons'. FAB.
Beautiful look at the butterfly, have no clue when it comes to identifying them. I just know they are beautiful :) Looking forward to the dragons you may have found.
Kerri,The people that posted the ID to this are all wrong. First off you did not use flash and the blue on the hindwing makes getting an ID difficult as it shows the blue poorly. I have been at this for a long time and have 35 photos in the Kaufman Butterfly book. Look at my page at http://www.rlephoto.com/swallowtails/swallowtail_ET01.html you will see clearly it is a dark form Female Eastern Tiger Swallowtail.
I'd be very happy to catch this butterfly. The blue/purple colour is truly beautiful. Our Swallowtail species is quite rare over here in the UK.
He looks more of a rich deep purple to me than black.. gorgeous shot, Kerri. I hope you do find your dragonfly. I'll put out a good word for you. They tend to cooperate for me. ;)
The purple is absolutely gorgeous!
What a beautiful swallowtail! Lovely capture! YOu DID have a great walk!
What striking colours and lines in this shot. I love it!
