When I took these - the dragonflies seemed to be out and about in full force at the local ponds If you couldn't tell, I am quite enamored with these little creatures! This was my very first "in flight" shot. Well, I've taken many of them before - but none ever turned out. This is the first one where you can actually tell it is a dragonfly :) I "think" this is a Calico Pennant. As always - I'm learning from YOU - so please correct me if I am wrong. (NOW I think it is a Halloween Pennant)
Hope your Day is filled with wonder and delight!

Awesome shots. The little guy smiling is so colorful and does seem happy to be photographed. :)
ReplyDeleteTheir wings are pure gold in the sunshine! The first little guy reminds me of a spruced-up colorful biplane at an antique air show. Come to think of it, the analogy should be the other way around, shouldn't it!
ReplyDeleteI just love dragonflies. What a perfect shot of this beauty in flight.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful captures of the dragonflies, Kerri! Have a Happy Sunday!

Gorgeous! I don't know how you do it! Do you wear your camera around your neck at all times?? :-)
ReplyDeleteOh Kerri, lucky you! You caught one in-flight! Excellent job! I am amazed at how cute the dragonflies really are! LOL!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots. I'm quite enamoured with Dragons and Damsels as well and know how hard it is to get a great shot.
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely stunning!!
ReplyDeleteAs a first attempt as a inflight shot it is brilliant GREAT WORK :)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I are so envious of your talent! We adore dragonflies, but the accomplishment of getting a great photo of one remains elusive for both of us. LOL, your images motivate us to keep trying. Have a great week, Kerri.

ReplyDeleteWOW the first one is really stunning !! A masterpiece :)
ReplyDeleteAnd the second is great - smiling dragon :)
Lovely shots Kerri! The first one is amazing and the second is just so sweet! :)
ReplyDeleteI just learned this on Wednesday and thought you'd enjoy it: Airfighter pilots' suits are designed after dragonfly skin that has a layer of liquid in between two skin layers that cushions against high g-forces. They experience some of the highest in nature. Crazy, huh?!
Wonderful shots Kerri.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots. You have captured the second little guys face so well. He really looks like he has personality.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots, Keri, The second one actually looks a little bashful I think with his wings kind of sideways. I know they must be so hard to capture. Diane
ReplyDeleteLove it. You have a quality to your shots that makes me just ahhhhhhhh.
ReplyDeleteThese are SPECTACULAR! Wow... I'm in looove! ;o)
