This little guy was hanging out in the trees along one of my favorite trails. I used to think I could only find butterflies by looking down on the ground near the flowers. That is not the case at all. A LOT of them hang about in the trees. This one was quite high up but thankfully the 300mm lens was able to bring him a bit closer :) Tuesday

This little guy was hanging out in the trees along one of my favorite trails. I used to think I could only find butterflies by looking down on the ground near the flowers. The RSP as it is called by some. It looks to be laying eggs, wild cherry is one of its host plants!

I always think of butterflies being low by the flowers too. I'll have to look up!

Butterflies are here for only a moment in time. And yet, they manage to show themselves and thrill us to our very finger tips.

I love sitting on my deck while watching the flutters fly by me. They go back and forth into the woods that surround my yard.
I've never seen a red-spotted purple in person, but I've always pined over them when I see pictures in books. I'm sure it was a lovely moment.

Beautiful Kerri! The dof is alluring. :) I guess there are even some species that solely dwell in the canopy. Seems odd for butterflies to do!
