Preparing for the Future

It was amazing to watch this female Red-bellied Woodpecker excavating a nest cavity. At some points she would be completely inside the hole with just a bit of her tail sticking out. She worked very hard at it!
You had better live your best and act your best and think your best today; for today is the sure preparation for tomorrow and all the other tomorrows that follow.

  4. I have a pair of these at my house here in Iowa. The hole they make in a tree is huge.. But the sad thing is the red-winged blackbirds take over and make them nest elsewhere... I have 6 bluebird houses out and those darn red-wings sit on top of the bird house and not let any bird nest.. Red-wings are too fat to get into the box ...They are very territorial~!
