Up Close to a Tiger

To be seeing the world made new every morning, as if it were the morning of the first day, and then to make the most of it for the individual soul as if each were the last day, is the daily curriculum of the mind's desire.- John H. Finley

  1. Hiya Kerri,
You were quick off the draw this morning: the ink was still wet when you arrived :-)

Your butterfly wing is indeed up close. Amazing what one can see when it is larger than life.

  3. Wow! There he is in all his gold and black glory, spreading his wings like a cloak. magnificent, and tiger-like indeed.
Love the quote too- somebody told me the essence of this, but not the original, so I'm delighted to now have the real Mc Coy.

  6. Oh yeah Kerri - this is a great shot.
I especially love the proboscis - when we raised the monarchs I was fascinated by the two tubes that became one -

Do you special plants around your home to draw these delicate and beautiful butterflies to you? I have lots of coneflowers that usually are a draw to the monarch - but I saw so few this year.

Never have I seen a yellow beauty like this one though!

  11. Neat closeup. I saw more butterflies in 2010 than in 2009...but the numbers seem way down from years previous to that. I hope I see LOTS in 2011!

  12. I still see a few sulphurs flying around.

I love the close-up of the wing. I too love the tiger swallowtails and look forward to seeing them next spring.

  20. Butterflys always make me feel happy. We don't get as many assortment as you seem to have. I wish we did though. I guess our summer is too short. :(

    Happy Monday Kerri!
