My thoughts on this image:
ReplyDeleteFirst of all - it is not meant to be a "downer" image. I try to keep everything positive on this blog :)
I see a heart that is slightly cracked - but not completely broken. I noticed that the heart is not empty and I see some "new growth" around the heart - part of the mending process. I found this little nutshell on a walk over the weekend and it spoke to me.

ReplyDeleteAnd pieces of everything around it are filling the heart, like pieces of everyone around us fill our hearts with love.
ReplyDeleteVery cool.
ReplyDeleteI am commenting before I read yours...I see a heart. Plain as day! This put a huge smile on my face. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteFirst and formost, I love this picture. I see the obvious heart, slighly fractured, unwilling to break. I see growth both inside and out. I see beauty, where others would not. I see...alot!! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw it, I saw an animal track. :)
ReplyDeleteA mold of a foot imprint was my first thought.
ReplyDeleteHi Kerri..being me the first thing I saw was a heart shape!!
ReplyDeleteI see then everywhere it seem..I just this morning while sitting at the kitchen wooden bar a tiny chip of the side shaped like a heart. :}}
I didn't see the crack until I read what you said..I did notice in the upper right what looked like srpout of green or something like that!!
Loved this post and your analogy!!
It looks like a heart! A lovely one at that...
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool find! Even though the heart has a crack, dirt, rocks, and grass inside, it's still obviously a heart. The debris doesn't make it any less so; in fact, it now has lots of character. Maybe it's the same way that people leave impressions on others, shaping their character. Am I even making sense? LOL
ReplyDeleteOh, I love finding things like this. Yes, a heart. Do you suppose it is a black walnut shell?
ReplyDeleteIf you search Rick Ruggles, he has many posters with "found hearts". Some are titled "love is where you find it". How lovely that you found one, too.
I have one of his posters on my office wall.
Thanks, Kerri.
:)
I saw the heart but it is full of so many stories.
ReplyDeleteWhat a super cool photo. I see hope!
ReplyDeleteI see a sheltered, broken heart ... but on the mend ... with possibilities. Very thought provoking! Isn't nature amazing?
ReplyDeleteA broken and revived heart.
ReplyDeleteMany of us probably "get" this beautiful image!
It was clear from the thumb nail it was a heart. I love your words and wonderful find.
ReplyDeleteYou sure got down to the "heart" of the matter...haha. Do you suppose it is broken because no one noticed it's charm and simply trod it down into the mud?
ReplyDeleteFirst I was trying to figure out what it really was, then I saw a heart.
ReplyDeleteIt's a heart that has lived and loved, you can tell that by the crack. You can't love without getting your heart at least cracked, and most likely broken.
The different bits inside the heart represent, to me, different life experiences, some grizzly, some smooth, some sweet.
It's been fun interpreting it!
A heart has the ability to heal and persevere. Your photo is a good reminder that damage can be repaired.
ReplyDeleteWell, I knew what it was, of course - half of a walnut shell facing up. But before I saw the heart, I thought it looked like a tiny footprint of a deer.
ReplyDeleteI'm so unromantic - I thought it was a pair of footprints.
ReplyDeleteA broken heart. :(
ReplyDeleteNot only do I feel unromantic (I had to go look again to see a heart) but my first impression was of a little alien face! Not sure I want to know what that says about me!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I for sure see a heart. I think it says 'hope' to me... beautiful!
ReplyDeletexo Catherine
It's the heart of nature!
ReplyDeleteI saw a heart - with inset footprints - like all of those we "meet" near and far who inspire and affect our lives in such magnificent ways.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE this! You have a truly fantastic eye!
ReplyDeleteI see the cycle of life: New life replacing old. The old hickory nut shell is broken and decaying, but new life is springing up around and inside it. Not a "downer" for me. That life in nature goes on is very uplifting.
ReplyDeleteWell, something must be wrong with me. I saw a nose!!!!!! Then I saw the heart! :)
