I love those masked bandits! Bob is right: they can actually get drunk on berries. We have a huge bush about 10 feet long and 8 feet high and 5 feet wide that a flock of about 20 birds absolutely denuded of berries in two days late last winter. That's the only time we see them here.
When I lived in MD, every winter a group of Cedar Waxwings would come by and eat all the berries of the tree in our front yard. They would devour all of them in an hour or so and then move on. It was a highlight of my winter.
This is a fabulous capture! We had tons of them here last year and I took lots of photos, but none this good! They're some of my favorites! Hope they come back this way...
Very fun! I like the shot. That is, until the berries start to ferment and you have drunken waxwings flying into your windows!
