Eastern Towhee In A Thorny Mess

Well, it looks like a thorny mess to me!  It amazes me how birds can dig around and even perch on thorny vines and manage to do it without getting all scratched up.

All living things contain a measure of madness that moves them in strange, sometimes inexplicable ways. This madness can be saving; it is part and parcel of the ability to adapt. Without it, no species would survive.

Some bushes are total thorny messes and I too wonder how birds manage not to get stabbed by those thorns.

I think that's the kind of bird that built the nest on the tractor tire last year that I thought was a robin but it didn't quite look right.
