Floral Delight

Flowers don't worry about
how they're going to bloom.
They just open up and turn toward the light and that makes them beautiful.

Merry Christmas

Silent night, Holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin, mother and child
Holy infant, tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, Holy night
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord at thy birth
Jesus, Lord at thy birth.

Silent night, Holy night
Shepherds quake, at the sight
Glories stream from heaven above
Heavenly hosts sing Hallelujah.
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born

 - Franz Gruber

The Nativity

“The place that the shepherds found was not an academy or an abstract republic, it was not a place of myths allegorized or dissected or explained or explained away.
It was a place of dreams come true.”

It Was Our First!

Hubby and I participated in our first Craft show yesterday!

Jim has developed a process for mounting my images on to solid hard woods, Oak and Poplar.
These are sized at 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 (image is 4 x 4)

He also made 2 illuminated display walls to showcase the images, which were mounted on easels.

I also had 8 x 10s and 5 x 7s available along with some note cards.  I can see more of these shows in our future!

Tufted Titmouse On High Alert

Laughter is a sunbeam of the soul.
 ― Thomas Mann

This little Tufted Titmouse looks like he is on High Alert.  They  stretch themselves to look taller when another bird is around - or at least that is how it seems to me.  I've seen chickadees do this too.  There is never a dull moment watching these sweet little birds!

Female Downy Woodpecker

As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful.

They are the things that fill our lives with comfort and our hearts with gladness -- just the pure air to breathe and the strength to breath it; just warmth and shelter and home folks; just plain food that gives us strength; the bright sunshine on a cold day; and a cool breeze when the day is warm.
 — Laura Ingalls Wilder

Dream-Dust

Gather out of star-dust,
Earth-dust,
Cloud-dust,
Storm-dust,
And splinters of hail,
One handful of dream-dust,
Not for sale.
 ― Langston Hughes

Have you read this poem before?
I just read it this morning ...... and it really spoke to me.
We all need a handful of dream-dust!!
My interpretation of dream-dust is that little sprinkle of confidence in your mind that you can actually attain your dreams!  I'm not sure if that is the way he meant it or if he meant it in terms of sleep.

The Last Party of the Year

Autumn is Nature's last party of the year. And dressing for the occasion, forests don their brightest attire, while the creatures follow suit with plush coats of fur. As the birds savor their final flights in the waning embers of light, Nature's children scamper about in search of manna for their winter pantries, pausing long enough to frolic in the heaps of newly fallen leaves.
"Autumn Suppers," Orange Coast Magazine, Oct. 1983
