Well, not actually a dragon, but my first dragonfly
of 2008!
I think that means Spring is really here!!
He looks metallic green with light blue on his tail.
could seem him horizontally. He actually landed vertically, as the
first shot shows. I was so excited that these shots turned out.
This guy was really TINY!

Happy Saturday Everyone!

be VERY much appreciated!!

ReplyDeleteHi Kerri
ReplyDeleteIt's called the 'Common Bluetail'
Ischnura senegalensis
Have a look HERE
We were looking at the same things this week...I was shooting dragonflies too. I believe this little guy is either a Zebra Longwing or an Eastern Pondhawk. Lest you think me so smart, I just saw a sign about dragonflies posted along the walk at Green Cay Wetlands. The orange spotted ones are definitely Halloween Pennants.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Kerri. Such delicate little creatures. I love their little maneuvers and tricks they play amongst the leaves and flowers. Fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteThey do make for wonderful flyfishing as well! =)
Amazing colours on these little creatures! What a lovely shot.
ReplyDeletethe things you capture! another 2 wodnerful shots!

Wow, great shot. With Spring there are more exciting things for us all to capture.
ReplyDeleteThe first one, congrats!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, Kerri. It's a damselfly and I think "Bluetail" is the name. I'm eager to see them return to my pond!
ReplyDeleteMary
That's lovely--but I can't put a handle on it.
ReplyDeleteJust a wonder to appreciate on a warm day...
I have always loved dragonflys - they are interesting to look at and do such great things! Your dragonfly is unlike any I've ever seen - the colors are magnificent!
