A New Beginning

Thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers and positive messages. As I read them the tears flowed. I am so happy to be a part of this wonderful "family"! Brianna's surgery went very well! She was able to come home Thursday evening. The entire process was a bit overwhelming for her since she had never been in the hospital before. But she really did great. When she woke up in her room after the surgery she squeezed my hand and she had tears in her eyes. I asked if she was in pain and she whispered to me "These are happy tears. I'm going to be able to run again." I knew this had been hard for her - but until that moment I really hadn't realized how hard. She is a very athletic/active young woman and not being able to be active since December 3rd has been awful for her. Now she is on her way to recovery! We visit the surgeon again tomorrow for follow up and she starts PT the next week. This is a new beginning for her!!

  1. Boy, I must be getting old...I'm forgetting things. Why did Brianna need surgery? I gather it was to repair knee or some such thing. I can relate to her feelings. My foot is really interfering with my ability to walk long distances...yet cutting out my nerve doesn't sound appealing so have not done. Glad all went well.

  5. Good for Brianna! By Spring she should be hobbling around pretty good! I imagine she won't be able to play hard sports again but so long as she can get back some form of exercise, and normal function of her knee, that's what counts.

Sounds like you've raised a wonderful young woman, Kerri : )

  9. A marvelous 'new beginning' indeed. May God strengthen her in ways never imagined! MAY HE CAUSE THE KNEE TO BE AS PERFECT AS HIS DESIGN ~ that she might run and jump to her heart's content ~ because He cares about everything that concerns her!

Thanks for allowing us to participate in your daughter's healing moments! God bless you all with His all encompasing LOVE.

  11. Yes, a new beginning! She's on the way to mending. Young people bounce back so well . . .

And to June, do you have a Morton's Neuroma? I have one and am seriously considering having the surgery. I really want to be able to walk long distances and with my foot the way it is now it's just too painful to do so. A friend had the surgery and told me she wished she'd done it a lot sooner.
