My First Mink

I'm not a doctor and I don't know the technical terminology, but I do know that sunshine activates our happiness glands.
~Jessi Lane Adams

I know that sunshine activates my happiness glands! One sunny day was  spent walking around one of my favorite places, Bisset Park in Radford, VA. That's where I saw my first MINK! At first I thought it was a river otter but when I researched it further I realized it was a Mink
~ What a wonderful day ~

It is more fun to talk with someone

but rather short, easy words like
"What about lunch?"

The Investigation of Nature

The investigation of nature is an infinite pasture-ground where all may graze, and where the more bite, the longer the grass grows, the sweeter is its flavor, and the more it nourishes.
~ Aldous Huxley

Friday

Bird and Blossoms

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.
~Anne Bradstreet

Exquisite Moments

Each moment ends the instant it begins. If you do not see this, you will not see what is exquisite in it, and you will call that moment ordinary.

Mr. Red Striking a Pose

Doesn't he look like he's giving me that "over the shoulder" look?
And my quote for today has absolutely nothing to do with the image but I thought it was quite powerful:

We all have ability. The difference is how we use it.
 ~ Stevie Wonder

Friday

Feathers of the Sun

May flowers always line your path
and sunshine light your day.
May songbirds serenade you

every step along the way.
May a rainbow run beside you

in a sky that's always blue.
And may happiness fill your heart

each day your whole life through.

Look Afresh

To think creatively, we must be able to look afresh at what we normally take for granted.

The Best Things in Life Are ...

"The best things in life are nearest:
Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes,
flowers at your feet, duties at your hand,
the path of right just before you.
Then do not grasp at the stars,
but do life's plain, common work as it comes,
certain that daily duties and
daily bread are the sweetest things in life."
~ Robert Louis Stevenson

You've got a lot of choices. If getting out of bed in the morning is a chore and you're not smiling on a regular basis, try another choice.
~Steven D. Woodhull

Thursday

I Confess.....

..... before the macro lens I never realized how colorful these guys can be. And I have learned that not all of them are colorful. But this one sure was. Every day I am amazed at what beauty surrounds us - if we only take the time to look.

I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in.
~ George Washington Carver

Wednesday

Wings and Berries

Did you ever see an unhappy horse?
Did you ever see a bird that had the blues?
One reason why birds and horses are not unhappy is because they are not trying to impress
other birds and horses.
 ~ Dale Carnegie

This little chickadee followed me along a trail I walked. I think he was looking for a handout.  I have had them feed from my hand but didn't have anything on that day.

Morning at Blackwater

On our way back from visiting family in Ocean City, Maryland, we stopped by Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. We didn't have much time to spend but I LOVED the area.

May your joys be as bright as the morning,
your years of happiness
as numerous as the stars in the heavens,
and your troubles but shadows
that fade in the sunlight of love.

Irish Blessing~

Ready for Take-Off

Another fresh new year is here . . .
Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love and laugh and give!

This bright new year is given me
To live each day with zest . . .
To daily grow and try to be
My highest and my best!

I have the opportunity
Once more to right some wrongs,
To pray for peace, to plant a tree,
And sing more joyful songs!
~William Arthur Ward~
