    Hi Kerri...I love that you have a good close look at the female, because strangely enough my post today has the Hooded Merganser to!!
    They have been on the river near my home this past week!!
    I could not get any of the females close up : }
    Cute little ducks they are, and so of comical ..they look of balance with there larger heads..lol!!
