Flowers Never Worry

Flowers don't worry about how they're going to bloom. They just open up and turn toward the light and that makes them beautiful.
~ Jim Carrey

Petal Suggestions

I like to have a thing suggested rather than told in full. When every detail is given the mind rests satisfied and the imagination loses the desire to use its own wings.

Sunrise Silhouette

I am in AWE of the wonders of Sunrise and Sunset.
There is a special beauty at those times, like none other in the day.

The difference between rising at five and seven o'clock in the morning, for forty years, supposing a man to go to bed at the same hour at night, is nearly equivalent to the addition of ten years to a man's life.
- Doddridge

Actually I don't know how true that quote is...I think it's more like
adding an additional 3 years...but I plan on adding all the years I can.
Morning is my FAVORITE time of the day.

When I first open my eyes upon the morning meadows and look out upon the beautiful world,
I thank God I am alive.

Time with Mom

**Remembering a beautiful Summer Saturday spent with my mother before her illness.

This is a shot of the Greenbrier River in Talcott, West Virginia. It was foggy, and my goal was to get a shot of the fog rising off of the river
While we were here, we stopped and listened to the birds. It is amazing the sounds you hear if you just stop......and listen.

Our next stop was in Lowell, West Virginia...a little community that borders Talcott. I saw this sign and asked Mom if this footbridge was still in use. She said she thought it was and proceeded to tell me that as a little girl, over 70+ years ago she used to cross this bridge. This is a bridge over the Greenbrier River.  She would have to walk across this when she visited her Aunt and Uncle
I have to admit, I was a little scared crossing over this.
It had some partial slats missing...and I never should have looked DOWN
through one of those slats. Yikes...I was a little scared after that.
But Mom wasn't! She would have gone all of the way across.
One of the lessons I learned this weekend.
I need to STOP and LISTEN!
I'm sure my Mom has told me the story of her crossing this bridge before.
But I probably just didn't listen. This weekend I did.
And this memory I shared with my Mom I will never forget.

Thirsty Fellow

Your deepest roots are in nature. No matter who you are, where you live, or what kind of life you lead, you remain irrevocably linked with the rest of creation.
~  Charles Cook

Look Skyward

How easy and simple it is to live enjoyably when the simple, interminable blue of the sky, with its long wisps of white clouds,
become a pleasant thing to behold, a thing of
beauty that thrills you every time you care to look skyward.
- John Schindler

Butterfly Shadows

We delight in the beauty of the butterfly,
but rarely admit the changes
it has gone through to achieve that beauty.
~Maya Angelou

I love the shadow the butterfly casts upon the flower.
If you look closely, you can even see the antennae shadow.

Moon and Clouds

The moon is like a mystery novel,
the sun like a motivational self-help book,
and the stars a coffee table book of photography.
The sky is the whole library, and God the librarian.

Thrills

I'm not sure what kind of butterfly/moth this is. Any help
you can give in identification is appreciated.
When I saw this guy, the yellow of the daisy reminded me of the sun.
And it looks like it is shining through his wings.

A Blubird...bringing home dinner for the family!
Looks like a nice juicy grasshopper.
