Change

We must always change, renew, rejuvenate ourselves; otherwise we harden.
- Johann von Goethe

Leaves from the bush in my backyard.  I am not sure what type of bush this is but it has lovely green leaves during the summer and then they turn RED.

Still on the Journey

To finish the moment, to find the journey's end in every step of the road, to live the greatest number of good hours, is wisdom.
 ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

As they fall...some don't quite make it all they way to the ground - but get caught on a branch. Over the years I have taken many shots of leaves like this, their journey to the forest floor not quite complete.

A Wonder in Red

The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.
~ W.B Yeats

Another amazing creature with a firm grip on a blade of grass! These little guys are so very interesting. They seem to hover over the grass until they find just the right spot to take hold. When I first started blogging I thought these little guys were dragonflies ~ but actually they are damselflies. I'm sure there are many differences between the two but the main one I know of is the way they hold their wings. Damselflies hold them close to their body, while the dragonfly has them wide open.  Id'd by Randy as an Eastern Red Damsel.

A Treat for Woody

A Red-bellied woodpecker that allowed me a little glimpse into his world.

In the Snow

No sand here to bury his head - going with snow instead. Actually this guy was just trying to dig around and find seeds that had dropped. This is another white-throated sparrow.

And another male cardinal - just hanging out in the pines.
This guy is in my shop: Here

Snow falling soundlessly in the middle of the night will always fill my heart with sweet clarity.

Red-bellied Woodpecker - Taking Off

This Red-bellied Woodpecker took off while I was
photographing it.
Love those wings!

A Hint of Red

Even if something is left undone, everyone must take time to sit still and watch the leaves turn.

A Few of My Favorite Things

A hummingbird - do you see the little spot of red?
Dogwood leaves - starting to turn.
And a Lovely butterfly - a Question Mark or Comma perhaps?
