Woven Around the Heart of Wonder

May you experience each day as a sacred gift woven around the heart of wonder.

Wednesday

Eye To Eye With A Carolina Wren

For today and its blessings, I owe the world an attitude of gratitude.
~ Author Unknown

Along with my family and friends - I count the wonderful creatures on this Earth as true blessings. And I feel VERY blessed to be able to see them and "capture" a few with my camera.

Tuesday

Blue Jay - Open Wide!

It’s not because things are difficult that we dare not venture. It’s because we dare not venture that they are difficult.
Seneca

This blue jay was hanging out on the feeder wreath and had to open wide to get that peanut!

Thursday

Carolina Wren close-up

A Carolina Wren hanging out on the bird feeder wreath. They love to dig around and find the little treats I've sprinkled in it. Go HERE to find out how I made the wreath.

Happy is he who still loves something he loved in the nursery: He has not been broken in two by time; he is not two men, but one, and he has saved not only his soul but his life.
~ G.K. Chesterton

Simple Pleasures

One of my favorite things to do is to watch the birdies feast at the feeders on my deck.

Life is one long struggle to disinter oneself, to keep one's head above the accumulations, the ever deepening layers of objects ... which attempt to cover one over, steadily, almost irresistibly, like falling snow.
- Rose Macaulay

Carolina Wren Stretch

When you recover or discover something that nourishes your soul and brings joy, care enough about yourself to make room for it in your life.
~ Jean Shinoda Bolen

More Of My Carolina Wrens - HERE

Carolina Wrens LOVE the birdfeeder wreath that I have out on my back deck. This little one is stretching out his neck to see what kind of treats he can find. Not only are they beautiful birds, but they have lovely song.  You can listen - HERE  (go to "sounds" and push play)

Two for One

A cardinal and a goldfinch ~ hanging out together on my deck.  You can see part of my "feeder wreath" on the right. It is a grapevine wreath that I sprinkle seeds in and use as a bird feeder. You can see more of the thoughts and inspiration behind that wreath HERE. The images of the two birds hanging out in the same area bring to mind that phrase
"why can't we all just get along".
That is what I hope for daily.
That we can all show each other
LOVE and UNDERSTANDING
but most of all ~ that we show each other KINDNESS.

Saturday

Rainy Day Bird and a Gray Bow

  Cold and Rainy.
This Mourning Dove is all puffed up trying to keep warm.

This time - a gray "bow" for my wreath.
Sprinkle the seeds and the birds love to come and dig them out.

Great gifts for the Nature Lover :)

Friday

Goldfinch in the Wreath

A cloudy day is no match
for a sunny disposition.
 — William Arthur Ward

An American Goldfinch makes a pretty wreath decoration - and
as you can see, the bird feeder wreaths are still working well.

Monday

Bird Feeder Wreath

If you build it...they will come:

I was inspired by Appalachian Lady:
to make a bird feeder wreath.
I used two grapevine wreaths.
I rolled pine cones in peanut butter and then in bird seed
and also added some millet.
Stuffed some peanuts in.....

And they came!
I have one hanging on each side of my deck.
I'm normally not very crafty...and they aren't the best looking....
but they do the job!
