A Muskrat Gathers Grass

From May 2009. As I took this trip down memory lane, I recalled My First and Only (so far) Muskrat Encounter

This is the same image as the top one - just cropped a little closer so you can see the grasses in his mouth. I assume he was taking these for food for his little ones
OR for building a nest.

Voyage of Discovery

The only real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.
~ Marcel Proust

This image is from a few years back. When I first saw this little guy I thought he was a beaver but I do believe he is a muskrat. The tail wasn't quite right for a beaver. It was a quite a magical moment for me!

Muskrat Love

During an adventure out to a marshy area, this muskrat decided to climb out of the marsh and gather some weeds.
Then he hopped back into the water and swam away.
Quite an experience for me as  this was my first muskrat sighting!  He reminded me of a Really BIG Guinea Pig with a long tail :)
