Drink the Wild Air

I think this is a Comma butterfly.  As you can see he liked hanging out upside down

and a ladybug hanging out

Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.

See the moon between the branches?

Reaching for the Sky

There is a time in every man's education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide; that he must take himself for better for worse as his portion; that though the wide universe is full of good, no kernel of nourishing corn can come to him but through his toil bestowed on that plot of ground which is given to him to till.

Soothing

The very winds whispered in soothing accents,
and maternal Nature bade me weep no more.
~ Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley

Fun in the Snow

Juvie White-crowned Sparrow (I think)
wondering what that white stuff is!

In December I got a new "Bridge" camera - similar to a point and shoot but it has a super Zoom Lens and takes video.  Below is one of my first videos shot with the camera (I'm still learning).
I thought it was nice that yet again the birds are being sweet and sharing with each other!  And you can see that the snow was coming down at quite a clip!
Oh, and the camera is a Canon SX50HS
The shot above and the video below were both taken through the sliding glass door.

Lady on Ice

In all things of nature there is
something of the marvelous.
- Aristotle

This shot of the female cardinal was from an ice storm back in December 2014.  On days like that it is
time to break out the Hot Cocoa and a Good Book!

Patterns in Nature

With an eye made quiet by the power of harmony, and the deep power of joy, we see into the life of things.

Found this Male Cardinal perched on the icy branches.

Christmas gift suggestions:
 To your enemy, forgiveness.
 To an opponent, tolerance.
 To a friend, your heart.
 To a customer, service.
 To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
 To yourself, respect.

A Spot of Red On His Head

Male Downy Woodpecker at the Suet Feeder

The lure of the distant and the difficult is deceptive.
The great opportunity is where you are.

Mother Nature In Her Festive Dress

It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace.
 - Agnes M. Pharo

I thought this tree draped in berries looked quite lovely....
like it was wearing a Red Dress :)
