Gray Catbird Bathing in the Sun

“Every day, wake up with the thought that something wonderful is about to happen.”
— Unknown

When searching for info on sunbathing birds I found the following:
"When a bird spreads its wings in the sun, it's called sunbathing, basking, or sunning. This behavior is a maintenance routine for birds, and can help with feather maintenance."

Gray Catbird

Baby Catbird in the Bush

“Turn your obstacles into opportunities and your problems into possibilities.”
 ― Roy T. Bennett

At the beginning of June we had some baby catbirds living in the Rhododendron bush in our front yard. They would sit on our porch railing as the Mom/Dad would come and feed them. I tried and tried to get a good shot of them through the window, but every time I tried to raise the screen, they would dive into the bush and hide. So I decided I would shoot through the screen. I was able to catch this little one through the screened window. Not a great shot but a record of the "babies in the bush".

Gray Catbird Fans His Tail Feathers

Look at the trees, look at the birds, look at the clouds, look at the stars... and if you have eyes you will be able to see that the whole existence is joyful. Everything is simply happy.
~ Osho

This gray catbird was sitting in the tree in my backyard
fanning his tail feathers after a spring rain.... perhaps to dry them?

Catbird Tosses a Berry

Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.
 — Eckhart Tolle

It is always FUN to find the birds exhibiting a unique behavior.  And I guess this really isn't so unique - it's just that they toss those berries SO FAST it's hard to see them when they are doing it.  I usually see that I've captured it AFTER I get home and download the shots.

Catbird With Red Feathers

may my heart always be open
to little birds who are the secrets of living
whatever they sing is better than to know
and if men should not hear them men are old ...
ee cummings

I rarely get to see this view of the Catbird - but was lucky that he flew onto a branch above me so I could get a good look at those Red feathers.  I think they may considered "brown" feathers - but they look Red to me.  Every summer we have a Catbird family in the front yard - very near our bedroom window.
They sing to us every morning around 5am.
A lovely bird to wake up with!
Wishing you a Wonderful Day!
