Flying High
And I learned to wander. I learned what every dreaming child needs to know -- that no horizon is so far that you cannot get above it or beyond it.
~ Beryl Markham

Paint Bliss
Life in itself is an empty canvas; it becomes whatsoever you paint on it. You can paint misery, you can paint bliss. This freedom is your glory.
~ Osho
This image pretty much sums up BLISS to me
This is a Black Vulture in flight.

I Just Can't Resist
reason was shown the door,
deliberately and with a sort of frantic joy.
I accepted everything, I believed everything,
without struggle, without suffering, without regret, without false shame.
How can one blush for what one adores?
~ George Sand
I just can't resist trying to capture "flight" shots. Whether it be
butterflies or birds or bees.
Nature has captured my heart!

Great Blue Heron In Flight
Be like the bird in flight . . . pausing a while on boughs too slight, feels them give way beneath her, yet sings knowing yet, that she has wings.
— Victor Hugo

Wings of Friendship

Ah, how good it feels!
The hand of an old friend.

Black Vulture - Caught in Mid Flap

Many times I hear these creatures before I see them. Their wings make a type of "woosh, woosh" sound as they fly overhead. Quite a thrill to hear!

Goldfinch Flyaway

The goal is not to change your subjects, but for the subject to change the photographer.

This little flyaway goldfinch was seen on the same day as the one I posted before. Some have asked how often I see these little ones .... I see them quite often. Sweet little yellows hanging out in the fields and chowing down on the seeds. Click HERE to hear the variety of songs they sing. (I had to click it twice so you may need to do that.)

Grateful for the Abundance
Both abundance and lack exist simultaneously in our lives, as parallel realities. It is always our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend ... when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present-love, health, family, friends, work, the joys of nature, and personal pursuits that bring us pleasure-the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience heaven on earth. ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach

Fascinated with Flight
We are each of us in this world an angel with only one wing. In order to fly we must embrace each other.
~ Unknown
I am fascinated with butterflies and birds in flight. Actually all flying creatures fascinate me. They seem so graceful and carefree.

White-breasted Nuthatch In Flight
Every place is given its character by certain patterns of events that keep on happening there…The more living patterns there are in a place—a room, a building or a town—the more it comes to life as an entirety, the more it glows, the more it has that self-maintaining fire which is the quality without a name.
~ Christopher Alexander
One of my all time favorite places for
photographing birds is Bisset Park in
Radford, Virginia.
There is a paved trail that leads you beside the
New River and allows for amazing photo opportunities.
The blue you see in the background
of this photo is the sky reflected off of the river.
As you can see, it was definitely a blue sky day.
