BIRDS

Ok - so this isn't a picture of a bird....but I liked the shot.
This was taken Sunday at the Izaak Walton Park

A Mockingbird.
This was taken in my front yard

As was this.... I guess there are advantages to the leaves falling....

This was taken through the glass of the door
that leads to the deck - so it is a bit distorted

This is the same shot as above.
She was actually posed this way I just rotated the shot above so you could get
a better look. This is a Red Bellied Woodpecker - female. The Red goes
all the way to the top of the head on the males.
We call the female "Wilma" and the male "Woody".

I like the picture of the road through the park. The bird pictures are great too. I cannot get close enough to a bird to get a good shot. I need a better zoom. You did good!

Beautiful Kerri..
I loved the view as you must know by now that's my kind of track. The woodpecker is a stunning bird, a proper beauty in the bird world for sure.. and guese what..

This is the very first time I have seen a 'Mocking Bird' so thanks Kerri.. I have made a note here to go and read up on this as soon as I've got time.

That's for your comment today, the collage was made up from 'Big Peters' pictures, He had over 700 on his memory card.. I've down loaded them to the computer, and will make him a couple of disks up now. I keep one here safe for him and he shows the other one to folks he drops in on. I will be posting some more of Petes stuff at the weekend and next week.

That's a good series of shots, Kerri.
I see you are taking Abe's advice and shooting at some of the birds through glass now.

Thanks for you comments about hunting on my blog. That is how we were brought up. It was a given that the deer were there as a food source and we killed them to eat. I think you are right that the older one gets the more reluctant they are to take a life for any reason.

I always find it funny that this woodpecker is called a red-bellied when there is no red on its belly. :-)
Great photos. I would love walking along that path!!

Oh, you teased us with that first photo under the title Birds, you clever Kerri. And then you gave us birds in their glory. I think each and every photo is a wonderful study. '
Happy Thanksgiving to you.

These are fabulous. I love that first one with the road curving away. You are really good at catching those birds!

Nicely done Kerri. I don't know what it is, but I always love pictures of birds... probably has something to do with my grandparents being devoted bird watchers.
Thanks,
Wayne

Izaak Walton - we have a park here called this, too. Huh! Might be the same one if it weren't for the fact we have snow/ice on the ground way up here.

Those Mockingbirds aim to please, don't they? LOL! Your woodpecker shots are terrific!
