Out in the Country

If country life be healthful to the body, it is no less so to the mind.

I love these old barns, I say it every time I see one. I also like your words, I was reminded of this poem.

What is this life if full of care
We have no time to stand and stare?

No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep, or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this, if full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

William Henry Davies 1871 - 1940
I think of this many a time when I'm out and see get struck by some sight or other. I'm sorry I missed dropping by yesterday, but what a treat I've had today.. ;o)

Blogging has definitely helped me to stop and see the beauty in all sorts of things I might've missed before.

You've posted a lot of good shots since the "Baltimore Duck". Salty and I were commenting the other day that this is the latest we can recall seeing this much fall color. Usually the leaves are completely down by now!
