together at my Grandmother's farm and have
"Pop it" Wars.
Have you ever heard of a "Pop it" War?
The plant above is what we would call a "Pop it".
We would gather LOTS and LOTS of these and wrap the stems
around the bottom of the top part....and "pop" the top off and
hit each other with them. These are very small so of course
they didn't hurt...but it was TONS of FUN!

A tremendous photo Kerri. There has been hundreds of these little fellas around here in the last few days... there's quite a hatch happening!
ReplyDeleteThis is the third damsel fly photo today on blogs I have seen so there is definitely a hatch happening in Bloglang as well! =)
Rocky Mountain Retreat
Wonderful shot Kerri! I need to pay closer attention to what I call a dragonfly...it might actually be a damselfly.
ReplyDeleteOh yes. We also had tremendous fun with "pop it." When my kids were little, they taught all their friends who were amazed. Not surprising since most of them sat in front of video games all day.
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! This is an amazing image. Incredible patience you must have to capture a fast-moving little creature like this.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, we too played "pop it wars". I still do and taught my grandkids.
ReplyDeleteFantastic picture!!!!
Wonderful closeup of the damselfly. Love the angle. Sorry I never heard of Pop it wars. I'll bet you kids did have fun though.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo and a happy childhood memory...i think we usd to play something similar

ReplyDeleteIf I have ever seen a macro-picture taken "according to the book"...
ReplyDeleteGreen with envy!
Excellent post and photo, Kerri!
ReplyDeleteIt brings back memories. I had forgotten about playing with those weeds, but yes we played those games too!
I also really like your skywatch post. I like the framing and how you captured detail in the moon while still maintaining the blue color of the sky!
We play the game with dandelions, Kerri!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful photo. The damselfly looks like some sort of sorceress balancing there.
Great shot.. never heard of popit wars.. but sounds like fun..
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me how my kids seem to pickup the old games we use to play, without us ever telling them about them....Never heard of "Pop it" however. Love the photo!
