Live your life each day as you would climb a mountain. An occasional glance toward the summit keeps the goal in mind, but many beautiful scenes are to be observed from each new vantage point. Climb slowly, steadily, enjoying each passing moment; and the view from the summit will serve as a fitting climax for the journey.
~Harold B. Melchart
I hope you all are enjoying the climb to the mountain :) I know I am!

Thank you for a precious piece of sunshine and inspiring thoughts. Wonderful capture! Patricia (Trisketta)
ReplyDeleteI have a book of "winning quotations" that is very positive, too. I love it... Love this chubby yellow bird. So cute!
ReplyDeleteVery cold and wet here too...we're in the 40s with lows nearing 20. Sure do wish I had brought down more winter gear! I've been watching Floyd weather...yikes! Might have to rethink living there year round :-)
ReplyDeleteLove your picture! I enjoy seeing goldfinches, bluejays and especially cardinals during the winter. They add a bit of color to an otherwise dull-looking outdoors!
ReplyDeletelovely bird!

ReplyDeleteVery sharp shot Kerri
ReplyDeleteI went out to top off some of my feeders yesterday morning, and was out no more than 10 minutes or so. By then, my fingers were burning with the cold... I could not feel them at all. Man, but it's been cold. All my photos are though the window too Kerri. Love the sweet Goldfinch and the wonderful quote.
ReplyDeletelovely capture
ReplyDeleteLovely picture. A little piece of peace and sunshine on a cold winter day. I love you quote too. Regarding the climb up the mountain, you may enjoy "Musings on d" on my blog. I would be honored if you took the time to pay me a visit. I love being in touch with other bloggers!

Hi Kerri, I found your lovely blog via Twitter. Your photos are just amazing! I could "bird watch" your blog all day long! :) Theresa
ReplyDeleteEv1 has snowblues, great shot.
ReplyDeleteNice shot! lovely bird :D
ReplyDeleteLovely post, Kerri. That's quite a fine quote. Your Goldfinch definitely has more colour on him than ours do around here this time of year. They'll be bright yellow in summer but until then, they're mostly brownish with hints of yellow on their bodies and a mostly yellow cap. Nice to see one in all its summer colours despite the cold.
ReplyDelete....If we stumble and tumble to the meadow below, the views are spetacular even then. Whether looking up at the summit or across the grassy meadow, keep the goal in sight and you'll never lose your way.
ReplyDeleteCircumstance has a way of forcing us to see the path with a differnt set of eyes, different perspectives from differnt vantage points. But we should not allow circumstance to rob us of the joy that the journey bestowes.
Thanks, Kerri, for your talented camera views and words of wisdom. I love this little yellow bird. What a blessing to see a yellow bird outside your window. I rarely see yellow birds here in AR.
I love seeing yellow as it reminds me of Spring. Also, Yellow in my dream lanquage represents, family; gift; honor; and God's Glory.
Thanks for sharing this gift of God's Glory in this tiny bird.

ReplyDeleteThat is what I call a nature and wildlife feeling... Just the mood and the composition to make me almost there! Really enjoyed...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot of the Goldfinch. The deep freeze we've been in for the past two weeks is finally starting to thaw.
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of climbing slowly. It just two words it conveys the concept of movement/progress and taking the time to enjoy/appreciate where you currently are. Thanks so much for sharing that quote.
It makes you wonder how such tiny creatures can survive the bitter cold.
ReplyDeleteWow -23°C, that's definitely rather cold!!! Thank you very much to warm us up! I think we all need that!
ReplyDeleteThese little pieces of feathered gold never fail to cheer me. They seem to be staying with us this winter so we make sure to have the feeders well stocked. Beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteThe goldfinch looks a bit puffed out, trying to keep warm. Very nice photo and I LOVE the Melchart quotation.
ReplyDeleteSuper composition Kerri. A colourful chap to brighten our winter days. FAB.
ReplyDeleteI think Goldfinches are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteLast week was really cold and windy for us too. It's starting to warm up a bit now though.
