The texture is so subtle - I love the shot! The colors of the Swallowtail and the thistle are so vibrant.

I've seen more butterflies on your blog in the past few months than I've seen in nature. Where have they all gone?

Beautifully captured, Kerri! Cool angle. Now that the cooler weather has arrived, I'm longing to see butterflies. So glad to view this lovely image on your blog!

Kerri, I must "make" time to get over to your blog everyday--always an amazing post. Beautiful butterfly, fantastic shot of the bluejay, sensational cardinals, and the autumn bokeh is lovely. Thanks for sharing your photos with all of us. Mickie :)

Kerri,
Lovely photo! The reason it confuses you is it is a Spicebush Swallowtail neither of the swallowtails you mentioned. My web page shows easily how to tell them apart with pointers.
