Great Blue Heron Stalks a Dragon

If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time
 ~Attributed to Zig Ziglar
I watched this Great Blue Heron for over an hour one day.  He kept "snapping" his beak at things..... I realized when I got home and downloaded the shots that he was eating the dragonflies.  It looks like he has his "eye on the prize" above.  Do you see the "dragon" flying to the left of him?

You are the expert in capturing nature being natural. It does take lots of time to get a great shot like that.

What a cool realization. I don't think I've ever seen that behaviour though we have a number of herons and plenty of dragonflies on our pond. Clever, talented you!

I always admire their patience. They seem to stay in the same spot for so long just waiting. I sure didn't know they would eat a dragonfly!

Amazing shot! I didn't know they ate insects, for some reason I thought they only ate fish. This is great!

I didn't know that they'd eat dragonflies! Love the quote, it is so true; a nun in my school used to always say to us "aim high". We laughed, but it's true.
