Dark-eyed Junco surrounded by berries
Zoomed in a bit closer
Isn't that a Sweet Face?
I found this verse from Thoreau this morning - and I believe - oh how I believe - that each day I live
I have truly caught a little stardust, and have held in my hands a small part of the rainbow.
If the day and the night are such that you greet them with joy,
and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet-scented herbs,
that is your success.
All nature is your congratulation,
and you have cause momentarily to bless yourself.
It is a little star-dust caught,
a segment of the rainbow which I have clutched.
~ Henry David Thoreau

Oh my gosh....these are super images!! I love the last one that is cropped to show more detail.
ReplyDeleteHope you can find a bit of time today to stop by and visit to view my collection of feathered friends this week!!
Beautiful! Love all of the berries around him. How did you ever spot him?
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos. We don't see them until the snow stays on the ground.
ReplyDeleteI think juncos are so beautiful. That blueish grey is just so solid, and among the berries he is just gorgeous! Great shots!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like we are posting the same varieties of birds! :)
beautiful shot with a glint in his eye.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful captures, looks like one happy bird with all those tasty berries.
ReplyDeleteVery nice photos!
ReplyDeleteIt must be like in heaven for this bird with all that berries! I've never heard of this bird before.

That is, indeed, a sweet face!
ReplyDeleteWonderful. The last one is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteHe hides so well in the berries and he can eat till he's full.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures!!
Very nice images of the Junco!
ReplyDeleteOh Kerri! What a wonderful quote!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard it before but it speaks volumes to me. I'm going to put that one in my art journal. :)
The juncos are back here too. Sweet little snow birds even if there is no snow.
So cute in those berries!
These are splendid captures, beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy dear Kerri: I absolutely love your dark-eyed junco photo - it's beautiful with the berries. But even more, I am loving that Thoreau quote. I've never heard it before, and it's so beautiful and so true.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot! You got him in just the right place!
ReplyDeleteWhat great captures of this little beauty! Still waiting to see the first one of the season here.
ReplyDeleteKerri, beautiful shots of the Junco!
ReplyDeleteI love when the juncos return. Such beautiful captures, Kerri. And I love that quote.
ReplyDeletePerfect spot to photograph the Junco.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderfully simple looking bird - its not as flamboyant as mine - but its still really nice!
ReplyDeleteCheers and thanks for taking part in WBW - Stewart M - Melbourne
I am so jealous that you have berries. A hard frost hit here at just the WRONG time for most fruit to set in our yard. Not a good year, I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteVery come-hitherish!
ReplyDeleteLove these little juncos and their gentle ways.
