Lonely Leaf

In all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable is each other.

Good shot! I understand about being busy. I just returned to work today, also - after a two-week college break. Now there's little time for posting and few ideas in my head :o)

Good shot! I think it's good to have a break away once in a while.

Your depth of field worked out really well here... totally focuses the viewers attention on the solitary leaf.

And one hang on.
Wonder what it would look like in B&W with a little bit of contrast?

This real takes on a new life when enlarged, a great shot for sure.

The leaf in this poem didn't last as long as yours, but the poems nice.

AUTUMN LEAF

If I were a leaf on a majestic tall tree,
And I had the choice, of which I could be,
I’d be a maple to turn orange yellow gold
When the cool autumn winds turned warm nights cold.

I’d want to be high as high could be,
So all of the world would be open to me.
I’d sway with the wind, spring, summer and fall
Up in the maple so big and so tall.

Then one moonlit night in October’s cold air,
A beautiful frost would come paint me with care.
All leaves would turn color, as God would have done
To give the world beauty for short days to come.

Then if I could choose on which day I would fall
I pick late October when winds came to call.
I’d choose Sunday morning so bright and sunny,
As sun through the leaves flowed golden as honey.

I’d pick the sweet moment, when the wind was just right
To let go of my limb and float nice and light
Drifting ever so calmly from the place of my birth,
Then gently lie down to my rest here on earth.

And a very beautiful leaf it was - in lonely splendour.

Yes I went back to work yesterday too.

This leaf shot is so beautiful, and unusual. It almost doesn't look like a photo, more like a painting.

Sherri, this is such a well lit single leaf - a very appealing image.

Very nice picture. It won't be long and the trees will be budding again.

I like how you isolated this pretty leaf in among all the branches. Nice shooting.

Nice closeup Kerri. Love the shades of brown.
Glad your family is back together and I pray that 2008 is everything you want it to be.
I guess I can't put it off any longer. The Christmas decorations have got to come down and , oh yes its bill time too...so later...

Kerri, I love photos like this one. It's beautiful and it captures the experience of enduring. Thanks.

(PS It's tough getting back into the grind, isn't it? I'm ready for bed at 2:59 pm after being home from work for 10 minutes!)

Happy New Year, and God bless.

What a tenacious leaf! Hope your first day back at work was ok!

Your leaf doesn't look lonely to me -- look at all the friendly branches surrounding it as if to say they are standing guard! Since the age of digital camera, you sure can focus on the beauty in nature we always had but mostly neglected.

Nice shot! I like the way the branches behind the leaf frame it. We just went back to work yesterday as well.

Yes, it does look very lonely.

And all it wanted for Christmas was a little apoptosis.

Oops - I forgot to say that it's a very sad but pretty photo. It's a beautiful kind of sad - does that make any sense?
