The shimmer is magical on those wings isn't it? Dragon flies visit us in late July through the first week in September. Thanks for sharing your friend with us now. Such a beautiful photo.
Spring green. How could I not love it.. mine's the same colour. ;) I just adore dragonflies. They're an incredibly magical creature, don't you think? This photo is lovely.
Kerri, This reminded me of a boat ride we took up the Silver River. A beautiful dragonfly landed on a faerie tattoo on my back like it was really checking it out. Awesome experience! Great photo!
It's just beautiful! Doesn't it look as if it is forged out of stained glass? Too perfect to be real, yet it is real.
Long ago and far away I took a class in the examination of myths and fairytales. One of the things that was discussed was that many myths about faeries, tiny winged beings flitting to and fro, may have been inspired by either hummingbirds, or dragonflies.
It's easy to believe, isn't it? It's easy to believe in creatures from fairytales when you see something that impossibly perfect and lovely.
Thanks for sharing! Congratulations on your post of the week mention over at Hilary's blog.

ReplyDeleteWe don't see many dragonflies here in Arizona (lack of water, I presume) so this is a special treat to see this beautiful specimen.
