Black Vulture - Caught in Mid Flap

Let us not look back in anger, nor forward in fear, but around in awareness.
-James Thurber

Many times I hear these creatures before I see them. Their wings make a type of "woosh, woosh" sound as they fly overhead. Quite a thrill to hear!

What an amazing creature. And a little scary. You've captured his (eerie) presence well.

Excellent capture. For big, ugly birds they sure are graceful in flight! A couple of them are circling over the ridge outside my window as i type.

Hi Kerri, I've been offline more than on for a couple of months, but getting back into blogging a bit now. Checking out your blog this morning I see how consistent you are about posting and how your photos continue to provide positive inspiration. Thank you and best regards. John

Fantastic capture! The detail of the in-flight image is wonderful. I have seen a lot of vultures in our area lately but they rarely get so low that I am able to hear the flap of their wings. Cool!
