Canada Goose - Flying Upside Down

I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.
– Thomas Jefferson

I was quite amazed when I looked at this and saw the goose flying upside down. I guess he's not really flying upside down - but maybe got bumped by one of the others which turned him over - mid flight.
Sometimes I get really LUCKY!

I did some more research on this and found that this is called a Whiffling - you
can read more about it HERE on Wikipedia.
Isn't Nature Amazing?

  1. Did you notice the orientation of the head? It's in its' normal position. Maybe he was just trying to get a kink of the the neck and shoulders...lol.
    Great picture.

  2. Hope he recovered from being flipped upside down and continued his flight safely. That's quite the maneuver!

  7. Amazing, and to think that you were there to capture his "topsy, turvy" flight. Happy Easter. Mickie :)

  10. Wonderful shot, Kerri. This is too cool. His head still faces normally though. Such aeronautic acrobats.

  11. That's awesome! I've seen geese spin in the air, often just prior to landing.
