If it is a weed, it's one of the prettier ones I've seen! Love the color!

I have a yard full of these beauties, but I am pretty sure it's called perilla mint, and it's an herb that I also eat in the summer.

Let me know if I am wrong!

I think you're right. It looks exactly like the photo of "red dead nettle" in my own wildflower field book. Congrats on seeing the beauty of these common little weeds - I too think the flowers are as pretty as orchids.

I've seen these a lot but have no idea what they are called. Pretty pic, though.

Very pretty. It's not often when both the bloom and the leaves offer beautiful colouring.

That is so pretty. I like the way the colors fade into each other.

The little colors popping out from the leaves is a nice surprise. Pretty flower.

I think you're a brave person. There is just too much stuff in nature to learn.

I agree with Ruth, either way... it is pretty.

You've turned this into something very beautiful. I like to say that weeds are just flowers in their dress-up clothes.

I admire your perseverance Kerri in identifying this gorgeous wildflower, and thank you for sharing it with us. I learned something new today.
