A Quote About Christmas

"Let me not wrap, stack, box, bag, tie, tag, bundle, seal, keep Christmas.
Christmas kept is liable to mold.
Let me give Christmas away, unwrapped, by exuberant armfuls.
Let me share, dance, live Christmas unpretentiously, merrily,
responsibly with overflowing hands, tireless steps and sparkling eyes.
Christmas given away will stay fresh—even until it comes again."

Holding the Future

Great Grandfather (My Dad) and Great Grandson (My Grandson Conner)

Great Grandmother (My Mom) and Great Grandson Conner

And in today already walks tomorrow.
 ~ Samuel Taylor Coleridge

We celebrated Christmas 2012 with the entire family on Friday 12-28-12 and I think all would agree that Mom, Dad, and Conner were the best presents that we received!

Holiday Bokeh II

“Christmas magic is silent.
You don't hear it---you feel it,
you know it, you believe it.”

A Unique Gift Idea

Several years ago I was searching for a unique Christmas gift for my brother and two sisters. Using Photoshop Elements (see link in my sidebar) I made a "sketch" from an image of my parents' hands using the Photocopy filter. I printed them on a heavy bond paper and put them in black frames.I am happy to say they were a HIT! Do you make gifts for your friends/family? Please share them with me.

Let Christmas Not Become a Thing

The Jolly Old Elf himself will be visiting many households soon!  Remember that it is NOT what is in his sack that counts, but what is in our hearts. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not this is certainly a season of kindness and love and I think we can all relate to that.
Merry Christmas! Season's Greetings! Happy Holidays!

Let Christmas not become a thing
Merely of merchant's trafficking,
Of tinsel, bell and holly wreath
And surface pleasure, but beneath
The childish glamour, let us find
Nourishment for soul and mind.
Let us follow kinder ways
Through our teeming human maze,
And help the age of peace to come
From a Dreamer's martyrdom.

Holiday Bokeh

Something a bit different in honor of the Christmas season ~ A Christmas Ornament from our tree. I used the Macro lens, it was dark, and the lights were bouncing off of the ornament which made for some pretty neat
bokeh.

Light gives of itself freely, filling all available space. It does not seek anything in return; it asks not whether you are friend or foe. It gives of itself and is not thereby diminished.

Ho Ho Ho!

Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at
Christmas-time.

Christmas Bells

I HEARD heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
And thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along
The unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Till ringing, singing on its way,
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime,
A chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Then from each black, accursed mouth
The cannon thundered in the South,
And with the sound
The carols drowned
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
It was as if an earthquake rent
The hearth-stones of a continent,
And made forlorn
The households born
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
And in despair I bowed my head;
"There is no peace on earth," I said;
"For hate is strong,
And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The Wrong shall fail,
The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men."
~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Christmas Day 2007 - Happy Birthday!

Today is Christmas Day....however all of the socializing and
gift giving is over for us....we celebrated early.
The kids have been dropped off to
spend the Holiday with their Dad.
I miss them already :(
I was able to get out yesterday and take pictures....
and Dear Hubby and I are off to a special place to take some more today.
It is a bit chilly here this morning (32 degrees)
but it is supposed to warm up a bit.
These two shots are Nativity scenes from
"Granny's" house.
I call MY MOM Granny because that is what
my kids call her.
That is also what I called my Mom's Mom when I was little.
I wanted to post these two scenes today because this is really
what TODAY is all about.
Happy Birthday Jesus!
