Rainbow at Hungry Mother State Park in Marion Virginia

“Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold. But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow.”
~ Douglas Pagels

Mountains, Lake and Trail

But in every walk with Nature one receives far more than he seeks.
~ John Muir

This image was captured along the Lake Loop Trail at Hungry Mother State Park in Marion, Virginia and may be my favorite image from the week we spent there. With this you have a bit of everything: The mountains through the trees, part of the hiking trail, and a lovely view of Hungry Mother Lake between the trees as well.

Lake View Splendor

“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quite alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As longs as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.”
― Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl

Bridge Reflections at Hungry Mother State Park

“Men build too many walls and not enough bridges.”
 ― Joseph Fort Newton

We visited this wonderful state park over the
2016 Christmas Holidays.
Jim had been there on a family vacation about many years ago when he was a boy and had always wanted to visit again.  I had never been but had always seen pictures of this bridge (from various perspectives) and I had wanted to shoot it for a LONG time.  I finally got my chance!
