Hazy Summer Days

Lazy Hazy Days of Summer

Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.
 ― Henry James

Tuesday

Mockingbird in the Berries

Plant seeds of happiness, hope, success, and love; it will all come back to you in abundance. This is the law of nature.

Beautiful Things Happen

I have been completely AMAZED at how much
Beauty can be found in Winter.

In the winter, the world gets sharp. Beautiful things happen.

Sunday

Special

The dictionary defines Special as:
distinguished by some unusual quality
I saw these in the forest and thought they were SPECIAL.

I get the feeling this branch is saying to the other branch
"I won't let you go!"

Thursday

Touch The Sky

Sunset seen from my front porch.

And a tree at Bissett Park
I tried to get as close "in" to this tree and take the shot looking up.
A Blue Blue Sky that day.

Only from the heart can you touch the sky.
~ Rumi

Tuesday

A Bluebird and Some Milkweed

This Bluebird lives at Bissett Park.
I think they are one of the prettiest birds we have around here.
I zoomed in so you could have a better look!
Below is a Milkweed seed pod.

These plants are beautiful in the summer - and beneficial -
especially for Monarch butterflies.

And a closer view!
I LOVE these plants!!

Snow Memories

Snow falling soundlessly in the middle of the night will always fill my heart with sweet clarity
 ― Novala Takemoto

EVERYTHING looks different with SNOW!

Well, I know now. I know a little more how much a simple thing like a snowfall can mean to a person
~ Sylvia Plath

Friday

The Nature of Kindness

 The very nature of kindness
Is to spread.
If you are kind to others,
Today they will be kind to you,
And tomorrow to somebody else.
- Sri Chinmoy

Wednesday

Golden Gems

Don't waste yourself in rejection, nor bark against the bad, but chant the beauty of the good.
 Ralph Waldo Emerson

Can You See It??

I was immediately drawn to this tree.
Can you see what I see on this tree??
I see a face. A profile view with an eye and a nose.

This is the "zoomed in" version.
Can you see it??

Imagination is the true magic carpet.
~ Norman Vincent Peale

Tuesday

Acrobatic

During a scout for photo ops, Dear Hubby and I
visited one of my favorite spots....Bisset Park in Radford, Virginia
The squirrels and birds were out in full force.
Someone had left something on this squirrel feeder.
Something yummy....
In that far corner....he has to stretch to get it.

JACKPOT!   A Peanut!
What little acrobats!

Monday

Caught Up in the Stuff

I have found many of these leaves caught in branches
These are really big leaves....so I guess
it is easy for them to get caught up in the branches on the way down.
And lots of them never make it to the ground.
This is a "busy" shot....kind of a jumble of lots of things....and it may be hard
to focus on the leaf.
A bit like life sometimes ....

Friday

Snow Caps and Curly Qs - aka Goldenrod

Goldenrod gone to seed. Doesn't it look like a "snow cap"?

I also noticed they they have these neat little curly q's on
the stem.

Thursday

Squirrel Jump

IT'S A BIRD....IT'S A PLANE.....NO IT'S
SUPER SQUIRREL

I took this of "super squirrel" during some photo "adventures"
at Bissett Park. I didn't realize I had captured
his jump until I downloaded the pictures
This was taken at the Izaak Walton Park in Christiansburg, Virginia.
Wishing you a Happy Day!

Unclear Paths

“Along your pathway of life you will observe that you are not the only traveler. There are others who need your help. There are feet to steady, hands to grasp, minds to encourage, hearts to inspire, and souls to save.”
Thomas S. Monson

A shot from Bisset Park.
I'm not sure if you can tell....but there is a walking path in
the background....with leaning trees.
Probably not the best composed shot...but I liked it.

Wednesday

Busy Beavers

Looks like the work of Beavers

It looks like the beavers have really been busy.
Lots more info HERE about beavers.
If you go to the link, they show a pic just like my first one...
seems that a beaver will abandon the tree if they think it is
too large.

Love Somebody

Connect. Embrace. Liberate. Love somebody. Just one person. And then spread that to two. And as many as you can. You'll see the difference it makes.
~ Oprah Winfrey

Sunday

Delicate but Strong

I found what I think is a web during one of our
excursions.   It looks delicate, but I know it is strong.
I "zoomed in" so the pic is not as sharp
but I think you can see it a bit better.
When I first saw this, I thought it was a "fuzzy" that had floated and was caught between these branches.
After I looked at it on the computer, I realized it was "attached" to the branches.
If this isn't a web perhaps it's a "casing" of some sort.
Nature amazes me daily!

Lonely Leaf

In all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable is each other.
